A Ski Resort of Superlatives

The Arlberg – Austria's Largest Continuous Ski Area

Since the winter of 2016/2017, the new Flexenbahn—which runs from Alpe Rauz to Zürs—has connected a Tyrolean and a Vorarlberg ski resort for the first time. Thanks to this new lift and three others, all towns in the Arlberg region are now accessible on skis. Look forward to Austria’s largest contiguous ski area, which—thanks to this expansion—has risen to the ranks of the world’s five largest ski regions! 305 kilometers of slopes and more than 200 kilometers of runs in the incomparable Arlberg powder, as well as several diverse fun parks, offer winter sports experiences that are second to none. As a guest at the Sporthotel Auriga in Lech, you can pick up your ski pass for the magnificent Arlberg ski area right at the front desk.

"The White Ring" and the New Challenge "Run of Fame"

The White Ring: A half-day loop featuring 22 kilometers of easy and moderate ski runs and 5,500 meters of elevation gain, with observation decks at Rüfikopf and Madloch; the start and finish are in Lech am Arlberg. Tip: Take part in the annual race on the White Ring, held every January.

Run of Fame: A new, spectacular full-day loop featuring 65 kilometers of runs and 18,000 meters of elevation gain. This scenic ski loop is dedicated to the stars of film and sports who have left their mark in the snow on the Arlberg. Start and finish in St. Anton/Rendl and Warth.

Did you know?

The Arlberg is the birthplace of alpine skiing! On January 3, 1901, six sports enthusiasts who were skiing from St. Anton to St. Christoph decided to found a ski club. Their hope was that the club would help more people discover the beauty of the Arlberg in winter.

This ski club still exists today as the world’s most exclusive winter sports club, with members coming from all over the world. Just three years after its founding, the Arlberg Ski Club organized its first ski races—back then, without any lifts or groomed runs. In the decades that followed, numerous top athletes, some of whom even won medals at the Olympic Games, emerged from this club.
