Winter Activities Off the Slopes
Through cross-country skiing, ski touring, winter hiking, and snowshoeing, you’ll discover the beauty of Lech’s winter landscape in a peaceful way. From the air, you’ll gain a completely new perspective: paragliding is a great way to see the Arlberg from above. A horse-drawn sleigh ride, on the other hand, is utterly romantic and not at all strenuous—the hard-working four-legged friends do the work while you take in the beautiful scenery to your heart’s content. Cross-Country Skiing and Skating in the Arlberg Ski Region
Right next to your Hotel Auriga in Lech, you can join the cross-country ski trail heading toward Zug and continuing on toward Älpele. The six-kilometer-long trail is groomed for both classic and skating styles. In Lech, a total of 23 kilometers of trails are available for beginners, intermediate skiers, and experienced cross-country skiers. Please note: The trails in Oberlech are groomed only after noon when it snows. The Lech Ski School offers cross-country skiing lessons (group and private lessons)!
Illuminated toboggan run from Oberlech to Lech
A toboggan ride down the snow-covered and floodlit toboggan run from Oberlech to Lech promises fun for all ages. The course winds through the forest with many curves and leads to a final slope that ends right in front of the valley station of the mountain railway. From there, you can walk or take the mountain railway back to the starting point in just four minutes. The toboggan run is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and toboggans can be rented from the Oberlech Mountain Railway for a fee.
Winter Hiking and Snowshoeing in the Lech Ski Area
Right in front of your Hotel Auriga, you can start your winter hike in the Lech am Arlberg ski area and head to Zürs or Zug, for example. In total, you’ll explore the snow-covered winter landscape along approximately 40 kilometers of groomed winter hiking trails. Please note: In the event of heavy snowfall, not all trails can always be groomed. You can get the best tips for daily hikes at the Auriga front desk. Alternatively, join a guided snowshoe hike in Lech.
Ski Touring in Lech am Arlberg, Austria
The Arlberg is one of the most beautiful ski touring areas in Austria. However, beginners and less experienced ski tourers, in particular, should only venture into the backcountry when accompanied by an experienced ski guide who can accurately assess the snow and weather conditions. The Lech Ski School offers group tours and private excursions into the snow-covered mountains.
